Indonesia is one of the most beautiful and diversified countries we have visited, and it entirely stole our hearts. On our last trip, we spent at least four months on different islands. We began our journey on Bali and explored the surrounding islands Nusa Penida, Ceningan, Lembongan, and the Gili islands, which are part of Lombok, as well as the more distant Komodo National Park. And we spent some time exploring East Java.

After traveling to other countries in Southeast Asia, we returned to Indonesia, explored Bali more in detail, and visited Lombok. We loved every corner we have seen of this exciting country, as well as the culture and welcoming people of Indonesia.

Check out our detailed blog posts about each destination and find some useful tips for your next travel to Indonesia.

Bali

Bali has become our second home. This Island offers everything from beautiful beaches to magical waterfalls and lots of nature. Especially as vegans, Bali is like heaven on earth with its wide offer of delicious cafes. Besides, we fell in love with the beautiful culture and kind people of the Island.

Lombok

Lombok is very similar to Bali but much lesser-known. We found ourselves on the most beautiful beaches completely alone and exploring one of the most impressive waterfalls with no other people around. The locals are very friendly and welcoming, like everywhere in Indonesia. The southern part of Lombok is a surfers paradise, and the many Gili Islands give you a paradise feeling with white sand beaches and turquoise water.

Java

So far, we have mainly explored the eastern part from Java, which was very thrilling. Java is rich in history, with some of the oldest and most significant temples in Indonesia.  Besides, we have hiked a vulcano and saw the most impressive waterfall ever in Java.

Komodo National Park

The Komodo Nationalpark is one of the most beautiful places we have seen. It consists from 29 Islands including Padar, Rinca, and Komodo Island. The park can only be visited with a guided tour and is declared a UNESCO world heritage. Besides, it is home to one of the most thrilling creatures we ever heard of, the Komodo Dragon, the world’s biggest lizards. And it offers an incredible underwater world as well.
